Climate Action & Resilience Fellow

Sameer Ameen is a Environmental Justice & Sustainability student at the University of California, Berkeley. Sameer supported the Berkeley Office of Sustainability (OS) as a Climate Action & Resilience fellow and a Bonnie Reiss Fellow through the UC Office of the President. He worked to make the Berkeley campus more environmentally resilient to hazards through the development of an updated Vulnerability Assessment. An avid hiker, traveler, and foodie, Sameer is usually exploring the Bay Area or cooking food on the weekend

Britney was a Environmental Science and Geospatial Information Science and Technology (GIST) major. She is interested in how GIS and other mapping technologies are integrated in environmental research, which then influences policy and climate adaptations. Her passions include making scientific knowledge more accessible to the general public, and working with various environmental organizations both on and off campus.

Zero Waste Coalition Vice Chair

Tiffany is majoring in Society and Environment and minoring in Data Science. She is interested in exploring how community-driven solutions can solve pressing sustainability challenges. In the future, she would like to pursue a career at the intersection of technology and the environment where she can advocate for both people and the planet. She was part of the Zero Waste Coalition and supported zero waste efforts across campus! In her free time, Tiffany enjoys creating digital art, playing volleyball with friends, and picnicking on the Glade.

Jennifer studied Economics with a Minor in City & Regional Planning. Her main focus with the Office of Sustainability was to contribute to the establishment of the UC Berkeley Sustainability and Clean Energy Community Advisory Group (SCE CAG). She is enthusiastic about deepening her involvement in community initiatives and gaining insights from local community groups committed to addressing climate change.

Graduate Student Researcher - Berkeley Clean Energy Campus

Jack is a PhD student at the Energy and Resources Group researching building decarbonization policy. He worked with the Office of Sustainability in 2018 on the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) and is now helping to plan UC Berkeley's ambitious Clean Energy Campus project.

Mikayla Tran

Sustainability Analyst, 2018-2021

Mikayla focused on analyzing campus sustainability efforts and metrics through performance reports such as AASHE STARS. She also engaged with key stakeholders to identify ways to report our annual sustainability progress. Mikayla will be working as a GrizzlyCorps Fellow with Sustainable Conservation in the 2021-2022 service year.

She is passionate about promoting equity within clean energy and green tech, particularly through uplifting underrepresented voices in these spaces. She served as UC Berkeley's Eco Senator, representing the undergraduate environmental community and addressing environmental justice issues on campus.

Varsha is a 4th-year studying data science and society and environment. She is working on creating frameworks for institutional environmental justice and creating partnerships on and off campus. Leela Velautham

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Analyst and Carbon Neutrality Graduate Student Fellow, 2020-2021

Leela worked on various initiatives in support of Berkeley’s carbon emissions tracking and reduction efforts. These included managing the campus greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) inventory process, updating GHG protocols, and evaluating the feasibility of a business air travel mitigation pilot program for Berkeley.

Zero Waste Coalition Chair & Zero Waste Fellow, 2020-2021

Julia studied Genetics and Plant Biology with a minor in Energy & Resources. She worked as a Zero Waste Fellow in the Office of Sustainability and is passionate about improving sustainability at Cal. She also served as Racing VP, and subsequently, President of the Cal Triathlon Team. Julia will be returning to the UC Berkeley campus in Fall 2021 as a dual Lab Manager in the Koskella and Boots Laboratories.

Bonnie Reiss Carbon Neutrality Initiative Student Fellow, 2018-2020

Sage worked on a behavior change campaign to reduce electricity demand on campus through signage and comprehensive, high-profile digital education. She is now working at The Story of Stuff Project and has continued to teach her course, Zero Waste: Solutions for a Sustainable Future, with Zero Waste USA.

Kathryn previously served as the Vice Chair of the Zero Waste Coalition, as well as worked as an Energy and Water Conservation Coordinator for the Housing and Dining Sustainability Advocates (HADSA). She facilitated the Energy & Sustainability Decal on campus, where students are exposed to a broad range of energy professionals and learn the basics of renewable energy systems.
