Lindsey Agnew is graduating with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a minor in Geospatial Information Science and Technology. Over her three years working with the Office of Sustainability and Energy, Lindsey has worked on outreach projects including staff sustainability trainings, sustainability tours, Community of Practice meetings, student sustainability forums, and student organization meetings. She has also led the OS&E's newsletter and web communications. As part of her role as a Carbon Neutrality Initiative Student Fellow, Lindsey has recently focused on educating the campus community about UC Berkeley's goal to be carbon neutral by 2025. She helped lead a team of students promoting the Cool Campus Challenge (a carbon footprint reduction competition) and has helped share information about recent solar panel installations on campus with staff and students. After graduation, Lindsey will be working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife surveying trees in the Sierra Nevadas.
"Working with the OS&E over the last three years has been a defining part of my college experience, and has made me feel so much more connected to my campus," said Lindsey. "I am constantly inspired by the commitment of UC Berkeley's staff, faculty, and students to sustainability efforts. They have the drive to set groundbreaking goals, and the passion and dedication to turn them into a reality."
Ben Rushakoff is graduating with a B.S. in Forestry & Natural Resources and a B.S. in Environmental Economics & Policy from the College of Natural Resources. Over the past three years working with the Office of Sustainability and Energy, Ben has worked on campus outreach projects including sustainability tours, student sustainability forums, carbon neutrality planning, and student organization meetings. As a Carbon Neutrality Initiative Student Fellow, Ben has been working on greenhouse gas inventories for both UC Berkeley and UC Office of the President in Oakland to monitor UC-attributed emissions. After graduation, Ben will be moving to the central Sierras as a forestry field technician for Jefferson Resource Company, a forestry consulting group.
Ben has had such a wonderful time working for the Office with such inspiring and motivated staff who are committed to pushing Berkeley to reach ambitious sustainability goals. He is looking forward to seeing all of the upcoming sustainability initiatives on campus!
