OCTOBER 2016 NEWSLETTER Berkeley again makes the top 50 sustainable schools named by Princeton Review
UC Berkeley is once again honored by the Princeton Review as one of the most sustainable universities in the country. We were recognized for our climate action planning as well as our work on energy efficiency and the number of engaged sustainability student groups. Our work in water conservation, sustainable food, and active transportation were also recognized in this year's review.
Go Solar and Support Sustainability at Home & at Berkeley
How can you help do both? Go solar and Sungevity will give a minimum of $750 back to the Office of Sustainability to advance Berkeley’s carbon neutrality goals. Every kWh of electricity powered by the sun instead of fossil fuel makes a difference. More than 1 million homes in the U.S. have installed a solar system and yet 35 million more households could save money by going solar. Creating a space for students to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world designs, Berkeley's Solar Decathlon Team is building a net-zero emission home to enter the Solar Decathlon Competition in Denver in 2017. Blending in engineering ingenuity and student’s initiatives, the team share the common goal of addressing carbon emissions via sustainable designs.Interested in research and projects on campus property?
Part of UC Berkeley's research mission is to ensure the campus environment serves as a learning laboratory for students and researchers. Real Estate has developed an intake and review process for projects that require evaluation and can facilitate approval if appropriate. Examples of projects include tracking or modifying building controls or systems. Learn more about how this protocol can help you.
