Travel-Free Meeting Grants Now Available
In order to meet the campus goal of reducing business air travel by up to 10% within the next two years the Office of Sustainability is awarding grants of up to $100 to eligible staff and faculty. Funding by the Climate Action Fund, these grants must be used to either 1) host a ReadyTalk Web meeting 2) host a video-conference in an ETS facility or 3) purchase a computer camera for web-conferencing. Applications are open until June 2012 (or until the grant funds are expended).

Promoting Sustainable Behavior – a guide to successful communication
Have you ever found it challenging to persuade your best friend to shut down their computer at night? Or failed to convince your neighbours to turn off their sprinklers? Have you ever felt exasperated by your colleague’s unwillingness to recycle? You are not alone. Promoting sustainable behavior is not easy. Fortunately, social scientists have developed an understanding of what it takes to make people change their habits. Check out this new primer - Promoting Sustainable Behavior, a guide to successful communication - for a quick review of their research findings, designed to help you improve your environmental messaging. This primer was written by Rachel James, a visiting student fellow from Oxford University working at UC Berkeley under the IARU Sustainability Fellowship program.
