Start the School Year Strong by Attending these Student Sustainability Events

The start of the school year is the perfect time for new and returning students alike to become engaged in campus sustainability. Learn about the different environmental organizations and initiatives at UC Berkeley by attending these upcoming events. 

Fall 2014 Student Sustainability LEADERS Forum

Join us for the Student Sustainability Leaders Forum on Wednesday, September 17, from 6:00-8:00 pm in 60 Barrows. Come learn about campus resources and network with the 30+ campus environmental groups to make a sustainable Berkeley. 

This year’s forum is designed to be a networking opportunity for environmental student leaders to help facilitate collaboration, communication, and awareness on upcoming projects and events. In addition, the Office of Sustainability will provide an overview of the many resources available to student groups including Green Certification, publicity, and funding.

CALAPALOOZA

Calapalooza, Berkeley's annual new student activity fair, will take place from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, September 3rd and Thursday, September 4th on Upper Sproul, Dwinelle and Wheeler Plazas. 

Many environmental and sustainability themed student organizations will have representatives tabling at the event. On Wednesday, groups will include ASUC Sustainability Team, Student Food Collective, Building Sustainability at Cal, EthiCAL Apparel, and Student Organic Garden Association. On Thursday, groups will include Bay Area Environmentally Aware Consulting Network, Ocean Society of Berkeley, Students Against Fracking, Student Environmental Resource Center, and ReUSE.

GETTING YOUR BEARINGS RESOURCE FAIR

Come visit the Getting Your Bearings Resource Fair on Monday, September 8th from 11:00am-2:00pm to learn about the resources and support that UC Berkeley departments can offer you. The event will be taking place on Upper Sproul Plaza.

Representatives from the the Office of Sustainability & Energy will be happy to share information on current efforts to help the campus reduce its environmental impact, answer questions, and hear ideas of ways to make Berkeley more sustainable. 

SERC'S CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Looking for even more ways to become engaged in sustainability on campus? UC Berkeley's Student Environmental Resource Center (SERC) maintains an updated calendar of environmental events occuring daily. Events range from lectures and colloquiums to service projects and movie nights.
