5th Annual Sustainability Summit

This year's Annual Sustainability Summit is larger than ever before. It will be on Monday, April 21st located in Pauley Ballroom from 8am-1:30pm. This year's summit will recognize staff, faculty, and students addressing sustainability issues on campus and provide information at breakout sessions about various related issues and personal choices we can make as individuals and a campus community to help reduce our environmental footprint.

Like last year, the summit will be kicked off with a poster session from 8am-9am. Various sustainability related groups will have an opportunity to share what they have been doing this past year with attendees. Coffee and tea will be provided throughout this hour.

The traditional ceremony will be from 9am-10am, with a video taped message from Chancellor Birgeneau, short presentations by CACS interns, and emceed by the first Sustainability Director at Berkeley, Lisa McNeilly. There will also be a slide show of sustainability related photographs.

Ten break out sessions, five each hour from 10am-11am and 11am-noon will take place throughout rooms in the MLK student union and in Eshelman Library. These will vary in topics from waste to climate change to meeting the Sustainability Director, but each one will focus on empowering individuals to make small changes to be more sustainable.

Lunch will be from noon to 1:30pm. Come hear keynote Michel Gelobter talk about social justice over organic and locally grown food catered by Cafe de la Paz. The Sustainability Awards will also be announced at this time.

Be sure to stop by MLK to be a part of this campus wide event. Lunch is the only portion of the summit that needs an RSVP, please go here to do so.
