Now Hiring: Green Purchasing Associate

Summary:

The Office of Sustainability is looking for a UC Berkeley student to serve as the Green Procurement Associate.  The Associate will support work being done under an EPA grant to increase campus purchases of environmentally-preferable (or green) products and will work closely with UC San Francisco staff.  This is a paid position (salary dependent on experience), and approximately 350 hours of work is possible.   The position will run from  March – October 2014, with flexible hours.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist Office of Sustainability in working to identify and promote “green” laboratory equipment and supplies from three major scientific product vendors.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Be a student currently enrolled at UC Berkeley (required)
  • Is comfortable doing independent work, is detail-oriented, and is interested and knowledgeable about green purchasing best practices
  • Has excellent research and writing skills
  • Has data management, Word and Excel skills, and an interest in supply chain and procurement
  • General experience in laboratories, ability to work with vendors
  • Graduate student preferred but not required
