CalCAP - Integrating Campus Sustainability, Climate Research, and Education

Join us at Focus the Nation - January 31, 2008!

On April 27, 2007 UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau committed the campus to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by year 2014.  The announcement was made at the 4th Annual Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability Summit, and it was made based on the final CalCAP recommendations made to the Chancellor and his Cabinet in early April.

The Cal Climate Action Partnership (CalCAP) is a collaboration of faculty, administration, staff and students to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at UC Berkeley, and to enable our campus to:

  • Demonstrate institutional commitment
  • Engage academic departments
  • Leverage academic research
  • Foster local community development
  • Inspire individual action

From Oct 2006 to March 2007, CalCAP completed its first greenhouse gas emissions reduction feasibility study.
