Sustainability Week

Sustainability Week is approaching! Held on Sproul Plaza September 17th-21st, this event will educate the campus community about sustainability.

To get involved, contact cal_ssec@yahoo.com. More information coming soon.

Responsible Investment Conference at UCLA

Responsible Endowments Coalition (REC) and Amnesty International are co-hosting a conference about responsible investing November 17-18 at UCLA. REC works to ensure university endowments are invested in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. All UC students are welcome to this conference which will provide the tools to jumpstart a UC-wide movement for comprehensive, responsible investing policies as well as learn about responsible investing. The University of California places social good as a high priority but often contradicts this goal by disregarding human and environmental standards. The conference will address environmental and sustainability issues.

The organizers are looking for UC Berkeley representation at the conference in both attendance and participation. They need help with publicity and are looking for student organizers who can help facilitate workshops.

If you are interested or have questions please contact Margaret Lee.

Environmental Forum Kick-off Event

The Who's Doing What About Campus Sustainability

Thursday, August 30th at 7 pm, the Berkeley Environmental Forum is sponsoring a gathering for the environmental community on campus. This event aims to create a support network by introducing what various groups are doing at UC Berkeley, what sustainability issues remain to be solved, and provide the opportunity to recruit interns and new participants. It is also an opportunity to initiate communication and bonding within the community.

Those interested in attending should RSVP to berkeleyenvironmentalforum@gmail.com. Those coming to represent a student group, an internship program or an individual project should also mention in the RSVP what their mission statement/focus is for the year and include contact information. This information will be handed out to attendees interested in becoming part of the environmental community.

Come prepared to summarize what your group or you as an individual are doing to green the campus this year. Please appoint one person to represent a group's upcoming plans and individuals/interns to present a brief (one minute) statement of your goals.

The event will take place in the ASUC Senate Chambers on the first floor of Eshelman.
