Sustainable Downtown

The University and the Berkeley's Office of Sustainability are working
together to encourage that sustainable design is a key part of the City's
Downtown Area Plan. One thing we are thinking of is a Sustainable Downtown
speaker series. The purpose of these talks would be to stimulate more
dialogue about downtown environmental activities to inform the planning
process.

Here is an initial list of proposed topics. Please provide comments and
feedback to Billi Romain, City of Berkeley green at
Building Coordinator

1. Smart Development - green building meets smart growth

2. Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Opportunities

3. Saving Money and Energy with Efficient Lighting, Appliances, & HVAC
Systems

4. Designing and Maintaining Streetscapes for Environmental Protection

5. Green Exteriors & Trash Enclosures

6. Healthy, Durable, Green Interior Finishes & Furnishings and LEED
Commercial Interiors

7. Sustainable Business Attraction and Retention
