2006 Sustainability Award Nominations

The Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Sustainability (CACS) is looking for
'green' practices to celebrate! The third annual UC Berkeley
Sustainability Awards will be presented on April 27, 2006, at the
Sustainability Summit. Nominations for the award are now open and are due
by April 17.

CACS' goals are to engage the campus in an ongoing dialogue about reaching
environmental sustainability; to integrate environmental sustainability
with existing campus programs; and to instill a culture of sustainable
long-range planning and forward-thinking design. The committee will
recognize contributions to each of these goals with the Sustainability
Awards.

Please help us recognize the good work being done on campus. Nominations
can be made for groups or individuals and are open to the entire Cal
community. There is a great amount of flexibility as to what groups or projects
qualify, and creativity is welcome.

Questions about the 2006 Sustainability Awards or CACS should be directed
to CACS Co-Chair Sasha Gennet at cacs@nature.berkeley.edu or 642-4364.

CACS Logo Contest - Submission Deadline March 31

CACS is looking for representation! Help design the logo for the
Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Sustainability. This design will be used
on the website, on correspondence, and on awards and promotional materials;
wherever CACS is, this new logo will represent the group and its work. We
are sponsoring a competition for a logo design, with the promise of a
fabulous prize to the winner along with an unveiling of their work at this
year's Sustainability Summit, scheduled for April 27, 2006.

The logo should reflect CACS purpose and goals. CACS was formed to promote
environmental management and sustainable development at UC Berkeley. To do
so, it focuses on three central
goals: to engage the campus in an ongoing dialogue about reaching
environmental sustainability, to integrate environmental sustainability with
existing campus programs in education, research, operations, and public
service, and to instill a culture of sustainable long-range planning and
forward-thinking design. CACS is comprised of students, faculty and staff
from all disciplines who help advise the Chancellor on matters of the
environment and sustainability relating to the University of California,
Berkeley.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTALS: March 31, 2006
The winner will be notified in advance of the summit, which is where the
selected logo design will be introduced.

Submissions must be emailed in pdf format to Alina Siu at
alinasiu@berkeley.edu. The logo must be scalable and entered in color (if
applicable) and in black and white. The winning design will become the
property of CACS.

We reserve the right to not use any of the submitted logos if we feel they
are not right for CACS.
Nonetheless, the prize will be awarded.

Be creative, have fun, help represent green at Cal!
