The 2009 Climate Action Plan documents how the campus plans to reduce its greenhouse (GHG) emissions by one-third and eventually achieve climate neutrality. The Plan examines how far the campus has come in the last two years to meet its ambitious emissions reduction goal and begins to explore areas that still need deeper analysis, decision-making, and implementation.

Green Events Certification Program

The Green Events Certification is a new program offered at UC Berkeley to identity and recognize departmental events on campus whose organizers have taken extra steps to lower their environmental footprint. The program identifies a set of conditions and actions that event organizers can choose to meet. Find out more.

Green Department Certification

Green Department Certification is a new program offered by the Office to identity and recognize departments on campus that have taken extra steps to have greener operations and lower their environmental footprint. The program identifies a set of conditions and actions - some optional and some required - that departments can take in order to be certified as a Green Department. Find out more.

Other Work

Continuing the analysis and implementation of our Cal Climate Action Partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2014

Working with staff to plan energy efficiency projects in our buildings and to account directly for the savings from these projects

Hosting the Sustainability Forum for student, staff and faculty sustainability groups to come together and network, share ideas and update each other on project plans.
